JAMMU: The prime sports project of a Football turf in the hub of sports at Mini Stadium, Parade has been left at the mercy of God with construction work abandoned by the agency allotted with the job for quite some time.
For the last three months or so, there was hardly any activity at the turf site despite the fact that a total of four months time was allotted to the Hyderabad based sports infrastructure company, Gradesport in the first week of February.
“The important project of the much needed Football turf worth near Rs five crores has lost its pace with near nil activity by the contractor for the last three months or so. We are fearsome of the fate of the Jammu’s prime sports infrastructure project,” said veteran football player, Rakesh Khanna.
With the delay in the completion of the project, an important training venue for the budding footballers of Jammu has been left at the mercy of God.
“We want the executing agency, the J&K Sports Council (JKSC) to make their stand clear with regard to the turf. Since the company allotted with the job has already dumped the turf material at the site for quite some time, it seems that there is problem at the administrative level,” further said Khanna, who is president of the Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Football Club.
Now, players, who come for daily practice at the Mini Stadium Parade ground want the concerned department, especially the JKSC to resolve the issues, whatever, and compete the project as soon as possible so that mega sports event are organised at the modern facility.
