LG Mathur assures full support for flash-flood affected people

LEH: In wake of flash floods occurring across Ladakh, the Lieutenant Governor R.K Mathur assured full support for affected people.
Flash floods have been occurring in Leh and Kargil districts from July 27 onwards. The administration has been fully responsive and alert and has been constantly reviewing the situation. As an immediate measure Rs 1.5 crore each for Leh and Kargil districts was released as disaster relief. “Meetings have been held with CEC Kargil and CEC Leh on the situation as well as at other official levels,” stated LG Mathur. He conveyed his appreciation to both the Hill Councils for their extremely prompt and comprehensive actions to mitigate the situation. Further, action has been initiated to repair the damaged infrastructure like bridges, irrigation works etc. and efforts are being made for their quick restoration, he added. “For damage to individual houses and property, assistance shall be extended as per the prescribed norms,” stated the LG. CEC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan in meeting with the LG requested for additional assistance/package in individual cases. The LG assured him of sympathetic consideration.
