JAMMU: After India won historic bronze in the Olympics after four decades, former captain and top hockey player of Punjab, Rajpal Singh was of the views that Punjab and Odisha have contributed to the rise of Hockey in the country.
The credited Punjab for being the breeding ground of young talent and was all praise for the state of Odisha for raising the world class infrastructure and flow of funds to help promote the game of Hockey in the country.
For many years, the State of Odisha is official sponsor of Team Hockey and has been hosting international events with the sole aim to expose the talent to champion stuff on the home ground.
An officer with the Punjab Police, Rajpal was in a jubilant mood soon after the hardliner ended in India’s favour ending the long 41 years wait of a medal in the prestigious event of Olympics.
