KPDCL employee nabbed red-handed while accepting bribe

JAMMU: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has nabbed one Vinod Kumar Fotedar, working as a Technician-II in the office of Assistant Executive Engineer, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Anantnag for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 for processing a power agreement case.
As per an official spokesperson, the ACB received a complaint alleging that one Vinod Kumar Fotedar, Technician-II posted in the office of Assistant Executive Engineer, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (PDD), Anantnag is demanding bribe of Rs 25,000 for processing a power agreement case of complainant. The complainant further alleged that he is an owner of a poultry farm and has to make a Power consumption agreement, for which he had applied, after which the accused official visited the spot also and demanded Rs 25,000 as bribe. “On receiving complaint, prima facie offence under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out. Consequently, FIR No. 07/2022 was registered at Police Station ACB Anantnag and investigation started during which a trap team was constituted.
The team caught the official red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from complainant. He was arrested on the spot by ACB team and bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses,” said official, adding that further investigation is going on.
