Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 122 fresh cases of the coronavirus on Sunday, taking the infection tally to 3,22,550, while three new fatalities-two from the Jammu division and one from the Valley– due to the disease raised the death toll to 4,389, officials said.
Forty-three of the fresh COVID-19 cases were from the Jammu division and 79 from the Kashmir division of the Union Territory, the officials said.
They said Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 29 new cases, followed by Budgam district where 15 such infections were registered.
The number of active cases dipped slightly to 1,400 in the UT, while 3,16,761 patients have recovered so far, the officials said.
The officials said the number of mucormycosis (black fungus) cases remained unchanged at 37 in the Union Territory as no fresh infection was reported.
Meanwhile, seven people tested positive for COVID-19 in Ladakh, while an equal number of patients were cured, taking the overall infection tally in the Union territory to 20,385 and 65 active cases, officials said.
The UT has registered 207 Covid-related deaths — 149 in Leh and 58 in Kargil — since the outbreak of the pandemic last year. As many as 20,113 patients have recovered till date.
The officials said over 4,000 people were tested for COVID-19 in the twin districts on Saturday, and six of them tested positive for the infection in Leh and one in Kargil. After the detection of the new cases, Leh accounted for a total of 16,820 infections, while the tally in Kargil has gone up to 3,565.
Six patients were discharged in Leh and one in Kargil, they said, adding that there are now 53 active cases in Leh and 12 in Kargil.
