JAMMU: On behalf of J&k Amateur Fencing Association ,the President M.J Sharma, IFS Retd. expressed gratitude to PM Narender Modi for showing deep concern towards the sportspersons. On this occasion M.J Sharma congratulated Shreya Gupta, an ace international fencer and her parents for representing Fencers from J&K UT in meeting of outstanding sports awardees and medalists with PM on Panchyat divas at Palli village, Samba. It’s a matter of pride for whole Fencing community that one of our players Shreya was there in the meet. It’s hard work of coaches, dedication of J&K Amateur Fencing Association and wholehearted support of J&K Sports Council that J&K Fencers are reaching glorious heights by winning medals in national and international arena.
Shreya Gupta has a commendable contribution and brought name and fame to J&k UT and association many a times by winning medals in Commonwealth and Asian championships besides at national level. Shreya Gupta is the first woman athlete from J&k UT to be selected in TOPS (Target Olympics Podium Scheme) scheme of Government of India for Olympics 2024. She has been conferred with State Award , being honoured with Sher-i- Kashmir award, S.Rangil Singh Award and Veer Mata Jeejabhai Puruskar.
The whole Fencing Parivar appreciates her contribution that she has fulfilled the dreams of Association and her achievements acknowledged by meeting such a towering and great personality of Sh. Narender Modi and it will written in golden words in the achievements of J&K Amateur Fencing Association
The Association is highly thankful and appreciable of Secretary, J&K Sports council Madam Nuzhat Gul for projecting Fencing game and recommending Shreya ‘s name in the delegation of outstanding sportspersons. Sharma said that during the tenure of Secretary, J&K Sports council Madam Nuzhat Gul, the Sports scenario in J&K UT is leaping fast forward and touching great heights.
