STATE TIMES NEWS BANI: Youth Organization Sports Club Lowhang organised a Volleyball Tournament in Panchayat Lowhang in which 17 teams took part. On the occasion, SDM Bani, Joginder Jasrotia was the Chief Guest while Dr Rameshwar Singh, Mohd Ayub Sheikh and Kajol Singh youth Congress leader, were the special guests. In the tournament, only vaccinated participants were allowed to participate. In the final, Rising Star (Lowhang B) defeated Lowhang A by 3-2. Ashwani Kumar was declared as the Player of the Match. Captain of the winning team Aarish Bhat received the trophy. SDM Bani Joginder Jasrotia, while appreciating the sports talent of budding players they exhibited in the tournament, encouraged them to accord focused attention on their game and work hard towards bringing laurels for J&K. “Discipline, devotion and commitment are the hallmarks of a true sportsperson which can take them towards the highest echelons of the sports world”, he said and congratulated organizers for conducting such events and assured all possible support to conduct sports activities in the far flung area of Kathua district. Dr Rameshwar Singh felicitated Ashwani Kumar and Aarish Bhat with Rs 1000 each and also advised youth to take part in sports and stay away from drugs. Calling upon the youth to actively participate in sports activities, Dr Rameshwar said that sports activities keep our physique fit and strong. He said that the youth of these hilly areas have ample talent in sports and there is need to channelize their talent in the right direction by providing them with an appropriate platform, adding that organizing such events in the area is an initiative in this regard.
