UDHAMPUR: Part of the ongoing sports week on the eve of 75th Independence Day, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) organised Handball competition at Mini Stadium, here on Sunday.
Three matches took place in the day-long event held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC), Indu Kanwal Chib.
The competition that took place in senior, junior, sub-juniors (mixed boys and girls) was supervised by district (DYSS) officer, Swaran Singh.
Veteran sportsperson of the district and vice president of J&K Kabaddi Association, Ashok Kumar was special guest in the closing function. He complimented the DYSS for the initiative.
Earlier, district officer explained the young participants about the importance of “Azadi ka Amurt Mahotsav” wherein the DYSS initiated cleaning of water bodies, plantation drive, spread of save energy message and Fit India campaign.
Among others present were, Vinod Dogra, Sanjeev Magotra, Parshotam Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Ajeet Singh, Ajay Sharma, Pawan Jamwal, Sanjay Sudan, Goutam Singh, Romesh Chander, Jatin Sethi, Karun Magotra, Ravi Kumar, Vipin Photra, Sourab Pandit, Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria and Anshubrat Khanna.
The matches were officiated by a technical panel comprising officials of the DYSS, Rishi Kumar Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar and Manmeet Singh.
