Jammu athlete predicted medal for Neeraj in 2018

JAMMU: It was during the 2018 during Asian Track and Field’s Championships held in Odisha that top athlete of J&K, Nirmal Singh had predicted medal for promising athlete Neeraj Chopra.
“Soon after he gave his best performance in the Asian Track and Field’s Championship, I had predicted, during an interaction with Neeraj, that he will surely win a medal in the Tokyo Olympics. The medal is a reality today and I’m so happy about Chopra,” said Nimal Singh, who was in a jubilant mood over Neeraj’s triumph.
“Though I was associated with track events, still I spent a lot of time with Neeraj for the sole reason that he was making records. We also spent a lot of time together during my stint as coach of the SAF Games Indian camp,” further said Nirmal adding, “With Neeraj’s historic gold win today, I foresee a golden era for the Indian athletics in the 2024 and 2028 Olympics.”
Nirmal, who serves with Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) as Physical Education Lecturer (PEL) mentioned that with first medal in the Olympics, Athletics, the mother of all games will grow on a fast pace in India.
