RAMBAN: Chanderkote police on Monday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by arresting four smugglers and rescued 57 bovines.
According to reports, Chanderkote Police on specific Information laid a special Naka at Chanderkote led by Insp Vijay Singh Chaudhary, SHO Chanderkote and intercepted four trucks bearing registration numbers JK02Ak- 5571 driven by Sultan Hussain, son of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Jail Road, Udhampur; JK4B-2480 driven by Mohd Asif, son of Farooq Ahmad, resident of Chuhana Anantnag; JK02BE-8131 driven by Javid Ahmad, son of Mukhtar Ahmad, resident of Kokernag Anantnag and JK14C-0451 driven by Gulam Rasool, son of Bashir Ahamd, resident of Chawadi,, Jammu. During checking of trucks, police found 57 bovines laden in them which were rescued. On enquiring, it was found that they were smuggling bovines towards Srinagar. Four cases vide FIR Nos 95, 96, 97 & 98 /2021 under sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act were registered at Police Station Chanderkote and further investigation has been set into motion. The whole operation was conducted under overall supervision of SSP Ramban, P D Nitya and Addl SP Ramban, Rajni Sharma.
