JAMMU: Government College for Women (GCW) Bhagwati Nagar, on Tuesday organized an online webinar on August Kranti to commemorate Quit India Movement Day under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. The anniversary of Quit India Movement is marked and observed by paying tribute to the freedom fighters who laid their lives for the country and its people. Prof. Puja Parihar, HOD History, GCW Gandhi Nagar was the Resource Person, who highlighted the background, events and the facts which led to this historical movement.
In her lecture, she threw light on the significance of Quit India Movement by discussing about the World War-II, Cripps Mission led by Sir Stafford Cripps and the revolutionary protests across the country that had increased the impact of Quit India Movement all over the world.
Principal of the college, Prof. Minnie Sharma remembered the spirit and sacrifice of the freedom fighters who took part in Quit India Movement and influenced the youth of nation.
The webinar was attended by all the faculty members and students of the college. The event was organized by Prof. Nisha Bhagat.
