JAMMU: A young and promising female fencer or J&K, Riya Bakshi has been selected for Senior Fencing (Foil) World Cup in Inchon Korea from May 12 to 14, 2022.
She was selected on the basis of her outstanding performance in Senior National Fencing Championship.
She expressed thanks to Secretary Sports Council Nuzut Gul for support to excel in the fencing.
Pertinent to mention here that Riya Bakshi also secured gold medal in recently concluded 2nd Khelo India University Games, 2022 at Bangalore, Karnataka.
This is for the first time that any female fencer of J&K in Foil event qualifies for the prestigious event.
Riya Bakshi is a trainee of Ujjwal Gupta, state awardee former international fencer.
Convener, Ad-hoc Committee Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, Adv. Supriya Chouhan, Maninder Pal Singh, Shottu Lal Sharma, Rachna Jamwal and all senior fencers congratulated Riya Bakshi for this achievement and wished her best of luck for her future endeavours.
