STATE TIMES NEWS BASOHLI: DDC Chairman Kathua Col Mahan Singh (Retd) on Wednesday asserted that every effort is being carried out to ensure that Kathua District witnesses unprecedented development with public welfare schemes reaching out to people’s doorsteps without any prejudice or partiality. The DDC Chairman was addressing a Public Darbar here at PWD Rest House in which Deputy Commissioner Kathua was also present. He said that assiduous efforts are on to make sure that Kathua District progresses by leaps and bounds and people in the region enjoy the fruits of democracy in the real sense. He denounced the successive governments in the past claiming that all have been invariably indulged into scams with impunity and shamelessness and never bothered about people’s sufferings. He said that after the PM Modi led dispensation came into power things have changed and people are now reaping the benefits of democracy in a real sense. He said that onus lies on the people to marginalize those elements who have deceived them in the last over 70 years. Later, the people apprised him about their issues and demands to which the DDC Chairman responded with exuberance and directed the concerned officials to take the matter on priority basis. Almost all the issues including power supply, water supply and civic infra were taken up on the spot and the officials were directed to be on toes to ensure that no one has to wait for getting basic facilities anymore. He assured the people that he will not take rest until all the promises made by him during the campaign trail to DDC polls will not be fulfilled. SSP Kathua, Shri RC Kotwal; DDC Councilors, BDCs, MC President Basohli, Sarpanches, Corporators, District & Sub District Officers were also present.
