STATE TIMES NEWS Kathua: Acting against menace of drugs and illicit liquor in the district, Kathua Police under overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, on Monday recovered 194 bottles of Siorex Cough Syrup along with 15 litres of Illicit liquor within the district. Three persons were arrested by police. As per details, a team from Police Post Hatli led by Insp Yash Paul Sharma Incharge Police Post under supervision of DySP Headquarter Kathua Shammi Kumar conducted a raid at Maggar Khad area and apprehended two persons namely Ram Dass, son of Nand Lal, resident of Ward No. 13 Hatli Morh, Kathua and Arif Hussain, son of Ilyas; resident of Dhanore. During checking, 194 bottles of Siorex Corex Syrup (Codeine Phosphate) were recovered from their possession. The duo was arrested and FIR No. 380/2021 under sections 8/21/22 of NDPS Act was registered against them at Police Station Kathua. While in another instance, on August 15, 2021 it was reliably learnt that a person namely Ajay Kumar, son of Kala Ram, resident of Rampur was carrying out trade of illicit liquor at Link Road Chhabe Chak. Acting on information, a team from Police Station Rajbagh led by Insp Bopinder Singh SHO Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border Sachit Mahajan conducted a raid and apprehended the aforesaid person. During checking approximately 15 litres illicit Liquor was recovered which was purportedly kept to be sold in adjoining areas among general public to gain illegitimate profit. The accused was arrested and FIR No 154/2021 under sections 48(A) (F) of Excise Act was registered against him at Police Station Rajbagh.
