STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: 5 J&K Battalion NCC, Poonch celebrated “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” in collaboration with various NCC Institutions of Poonch and Rajouri District under the guidance of Commanding Officer, Colonel Shrikant Rai. The week-long event included various competitions quizzes and social service activities involving NCC cadets. Video Blog competition on “Quit India Movement” on 08 Aug 2021, Online poetry competition on “Pollution & forest conservation” on 10 Aug 21, Greeting card competition on 12 Aug 21was conducted, Memorial/ Statue maintenance drive was conducted on 12-13 Aug 21 in which prominent martyrs/freedom fighter memorial were cleaned & maintained i.e Brig Pritam Singh Memorial by NCC cadets of Govt Degree College Poonch, DSP Manjeet Singh Memorial by NCC cadets of Govt Higher Secondary School Poonch & Lt Gen Daulat Singh, Lt Gen Bikram Singh Memorial by NCC cadets of Govt Higher Secondary School Jhulass & Govt High School Mangnar were maintained at District Poonch. Sep Joginder Singh (14 SIKH) Memorial by NCC cadets of Govt High School Laam, Nowshera was maintained at District Rajouri. A webinar was organized by the unit on “National Integration” in which 90 NCC cadets of 5 J&K Bn NCC of Poonch and Rajouri district participated and shared their view on importance of national unity/integration. The culmination of the week-long event was the flag hoisting ceremony held on 15 Aug 2021. The event was celebrated with Josh and fervor by all schools and colleges in both Poonch and Rajouri Distt. This involved splendid march past display by cadets of GDC Poonch and Flag Hoisting in all affiliated NCC institutes of 5 J&K Bn NCC . These events were a great motivator and inspiration to all NCC cadets/ students of schools/colleges of Poonch and Rajouri District who participated in “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
