JAMMU: Wrestling Association of Jammu and Kashmir in support with J&K Olympic Association (JKOA) organised day-long Ist Beach Wrestling Championship at Bajrangi Akhara, here on Tuesday.
The winners of various weight groups in this championship shall represent J&K in the 1st Senior Beach Men and Women National Wrestling Championship scheduled to be held at Beach Resort Complex, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development East Coast Road, Mamallapuram Tamil Nadu from August 29.
Co-Convener J&K Sports Cell, BJP, Pardeep Sharma was the Chief Guest who distributed medals to the winners. He also wished the wrestlers success in the upcoming National event.
Sahil Sharma (International Wrestling Coach) was also present. Sahil also shared his experiences with the budding wrestlers of J&K.
Prominent among others present were Dheeraj Sharma, Raju Sharma (Treasurer), Rohit Chhibber, Madhupal Singh, Jai Bharat and Sharan Lal.
The competition conducted by the technical team headed by Om Parkash (senior coach JKP) and comprised Ravinder Kumar, Krishan Singh and Anil Kumar.
The Results: 70 KG: Rahul Mehra, Gold; Deep Kumar, Silver and Keshav Singh, Bronze. 80 KG: Mohd Hafiz (JKP), Gold; Shamahoon (JKP), Silver and Gulshan Chib, Bronze. 90 KG: Nissar Ahmed, Gold; Nadeem Ahmed (Doda), Silver and Rajesh Sharma (JKP), Bronze. Plus 90 KG: Javed Khan (JKP), Gold; Vireshwar Bhardwaj, Silver.
