India reported 7,240 new Covid cases and 8 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per government data released on Thursday. Daily cases thus recorded a spike of nearly 40%. The active caseload in the country has risen to 32,498. India also registered 3,591 fresh recoveries. The health ministry is closely monitoring the situation in states like Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi and Karnataka and has asked them to follow the five-fold strategy and amp-up testing, as per sources.
