JAMMU: Joining ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ as part of the celebrations of 75th year of India’s Independence, Dr. Vikram Gulati of Udhampur cycled 75 Kilometres to reach Jammu.
His solo cycling expedition from Udhampur to Jammu was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to stay fit, do Yoga and become Aatmanirbhar.
His journey concluded at Residency Road, Jammu where he was received by BJP J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri. While welcoming, Raman Suri said that Dr Vikram Gulati, Ph.DM.Ed PGDCA BCOM (Hons.), is a patriot, teacher trainer, Yoga practitioner, cyclist and belongs to a war veteran family who fought for the country in wars of 1962, 1965 and 1971.
He said that Dr Gulati’s cycle expedition will encourage many young boys and girls to stay fit and lessen their dependency on others besides medicines, which will also enable them to contribute in nation building in the healthiest manner.
Three times University Gold Medalist from Jammu, Delhi & Panjab University Chandigarh, Dr Gulati has held several yoga camps for municipal workers, CRPF soldiers, health workers, teachers, students and shopkeepers. A committed Indian, he has also completed more than 150 long rides to pay tributes to Freedom Fighters, Sikh Gurus, Indian Scientists, Soldiers and Indian Reformers.
Elaborating, Raman Suri said that such persons of the stature of Dr Gulati, who has also hosted the All-IndiaInter-University National Integration-Kargil Memorial Camp attended by over 345 participants from 18 states, inspire many to take up philanthropic works.
He added that today, when India is celebrating 75th years of independence, we are faced with many challenges but the resolve of each and every citizen to contribute in their own ways is strengthening the national spirit and leading us towards our desired goals. Expressing his gratitude for Raman Suri for according a rousing receptionto him at Jammu, Dr Gulati said that he has also remained a voluntary blood donor since 1988 and donated 64 times to help save lives. Inspired by his parents who were educationists too, Dr Gulati added that his family has been organising regular charity camps. Their prime aim is to build a strong nation, where youngsters are drawn towards sports and eco-clubs besides are also keeping up the dignity of women and staying away from drug abuse.
He said that he will be organising more such events and will involve youth to lead them towards a better future. Dr Gulati asserted that youth are our future who must contribute in nation-building in whatever manner they can so that forces that are inimical to peace and progress are defeated right at the onset of their first move.
