JAMMU: Police on Friday arrested a man and 4 other members of his family for killing his son-in-law and his mother.
As per details, on August 19, 2021, an information was received at Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu that a person namely Popinder Singh, son of Tirth Singh, resident of Akali Kour Singh Nagar Jammu along with 2-3 others entered into the house of one Rajinder Singh, son of Gurcharan Singh and attacked him, his wife namely Shakuntla Kour and their son namely Amandeep Singh with sharp-edged weapons, due to which they got injured and were shifted to Hospital whereby his wife namely Shakuntla Kour succumbed to injuries and later Amandeep Singh also succumbed to injuries.
On this, FIR No. 235/2021 under section 302/307/34 of IPC and 4/25 of Arms Act was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. Special teams of Police Station Gandhi Nagar under the supervision of SDPO South P K Mengi were constituted and investigation started. Based on the technical assistance and analysis of CCTV footage along with interlinking of circumstantial evidences, police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Insp Bharat Sharma finally arrested the accused namely Popinder Singh, who confessed his involvement in crime. The prime accused has been identified as father in law of victim and investigation is underway to ascertain cause which resulted in this extreme situation. Also, wife of accused and his three daughters have also been detained. Further investigation of the case is going on.
