JAMMU: Cyber Police Station Jammu has succeeded in apprehending another most wanted fraudster involved in Rs 34 lakh online cyber fraud case, registered vide FIR no 10/2021 under sections 66D of IT Act, 420, 120 B of IPC at Cyber Police Station Jammu. The accused was identified as Sukhdeep Singh, resident of Iqbal Singh, resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Patiala.
On February 20, 2021, a complainant namely Inder Pal Singh of Talab Tillo, Jammu reported at Cyber Police Station Jammu that he was duped by unknown fraudsters on the pretext of buying units of Canadian pension fund, who convinced the complainant about healthy returns. Complainant got trapped in the luring offer and consequently lost Rs 34 lakh in multiple transactions from different banks.
During the course of investigation, the Investigation Officer succeeded in identifying co-accused fraudster who has defrauded complainant’s hard earned money. In June 2021, member of online fraudsters gang, Daljit Kour, wife of Shingara Singh, resident of Sahnewal, Ludhiana was arrested in the instant case in whose bank account Rs 24 lakh was credited while Rs 10 lakh was credited into account of Sukhdeep Singh .
SP Cyber Police Station after ascertaining the location of the accused deputed dedicated team headed by Inspector Vikram Sharma, Investigating officer of the case under direct supervision of DySP Cyber Cell Priyanka Kumari to apprehend the accused. The deputed team acting swiftly arrested accused from Patiala and brought him to Cyber Police Station Jammu after completing all legal procedures. The accused is involved in other complaints also.
Police is also searching for other fraudsters involved in commission of the offence. Further sustained questioning of accused is going on to ascertain involvement of other accused into the case.
Cyber Police Jammu S P Naresh Singh urged general Public not to share bank OTP , UPI PIN etc and never get allured with cheap online offers floating on social media and other online platforms offering products with unjustified and cheaper price. Never completely rely on information like customer care numbers , fake links etc floating on web space which often pop up on your screen as part of search results history on search engines. Review periodically security of your online accounts. Stay alert and vigilant against these online fraudsters, he added.
