JAMMU: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), in association with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, has launched a country-wide unique programme from Delhi on Saturday in furtherance of the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Beti Bachao-Beti Padao, with the main objective to provide women and daughters of our nation a fear-free safe society, where they can fearlessly become a part of the progress of the country.
This program has started today in thousands of small and big cities of different states across the country and every trader of the country will take responsibility for their safety by becoming the guardian of daughters and women.
As part of the National Programme, Neeraj Anand , President , CAIT, Jammu, Kashmir and Leh launched the initiative from CAITs Jammu office by taking a solemn pledge to do every bit required to provide fear free safe environment for the daughters.
Japman Kour tied Rakhi on the hand of Neeraj Anand and formally launched the nationwide initiative in Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Neeraj Anand said, “Being a Jammuite I feel blessed that Mata Rani has chosen me to head this initiative here, though our area is far better as far as crime against women is concerned but I will work towards arresting the trend of crime by adopting zero tolerance approach on this issue.”
Talking about the initiative, Neeraj Said, under this programme, shops of traders in all the markets will become the guardians of the women coming to their market and the daughters besides women living in their area.
A helpline number will be issued by each association in the market and that helpline number will be shown at all prominent places in the market and if any woman in trouble calls on that helpline then immediately a squad of traders of the association will reach to help her, he said.
On the other hand, he added, arrangements for women’s toilets are also being made in all the markets of each state, for this, on the instructions of the Union Ministry of Urban Development, the local municipal corporations will also help the traders.
This campaign will be jointly run across the country by CAIT and the Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, in which the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Union Urban Development Ministry, Union Ministry of Jal Shakti and Central Ministry of Power will cooperate, while all the state governments and local administration at district level and Municipal Corporation and Municipality will also cooperate, said Neeraj.
Earlier, launching this nationwide campaign from Delhi today, Union Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare Smriti Irani tied Rakhi on the hand of CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal and in return as a Shagun sought protection of women and daughters across the Country by traders.
Others present on the occasion were Pooja Kapoor, Pooja Wahi, Amisha Gupta, Manvinder Kour, Harsimran Kour, Japman Kour, Raman Gupta, Shiv Gupta, Dinesh Gupta, Ajay Gupta and Parag Abrol.
