JAMMU: Highlighting the plight of the daily-rated workers, who are awaiting regularisation in various Departments of the Government, Ch Rashid Azam Inqlabi urged LG Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter for resolving the long pending issue at the earliest.
Speaking during a virtual meeting, which was attended by a number of daily-wagers, Inqlabi said that daily-wagers in various departments are suffering due to non- regularization and pending wags. “Higher authorities in the administration are not addressing the genuine and justified demands of daily-wagers/ temporary workers, who performed their duties even during hard times of COVID as frontline workers,” the participants alleged.
They further said that despite making representations to senior officers and Advisors, nothing has been done to fulfill our demands. “Daily-wagers are not even getting wages timely despite working round the clock, which is the worst type of exploitation,” they added.
Inqlabi said that most of the daily-wagers are working from the last more than 15 to 20 years in different departments, but are not getting any benefits which other permanent employees are enjoying. He appealed to all the unions to come on one platform and launch a struggle for the cause. He urged Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to intervene into the matter for mitigating sufferings of poor daily-wagers.
