VIJAYPUR: General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir National Panther Party and former minister Yashpal Kundal held a press conference at his Vijaypur office regarding the ongoing power cut problem in Vijaypur area. During the press conference, Kundal said “the problem of power cuts is increasing day by day and we have never seen such a bad condition of electricity before. The BJP government has failed miserably in supplying electricity to the people. Every day farmers are trying to wake up the administration from their sleep by taking to the streets. But the government, who is intoxicated with power, is continuously ignoring the farmers. The farmers’ crops have reached the brink of drought. Due to the lack of power supply, the crops of the farmers are drying up.
Kundal further said that due to wrong policies of BJP, farming is also proving costly to the farmers. The electricity given to the farmers is being given to the industry. We demand from the administration that farmers should not be treated step-motherly. Power supply should be made smooth by reducing power cuts in the area so that farmers can save their crops. We demand from the administration that the electricity which is being given to the industry should be distributed and half of the electricity should be given to the agriculture sector so that farmers can save their crops.
“At the same time, we demand the LG to waive off the loans taken on KCC and electricity rent of the farmers. Because the pump sets of farmers are not running due to lack of power supply. The paddy crop was hit by drought. There is no water in the canals. The crops have been ruined. Due to which the farmer is not able to repay the loan of KCC. Therefore, KCC loan of farmers should be waived” Kundal maintained.
