PHE daily-wagers demand regularisation

AKHNOOR: Daily wager employees of Jal Shakti Dept, Akhnoor on Tuesday demanded regularisation of temporary employees working in this departments of the Union Territory and also staged a protest Akhnoor in favour of their demands.
Talking to media persons, Front leaders highlighted the grievances and demands of the casual workers, who have been serving in PHE departments for years without regular wages.
“Government has engaged around 61, 000 workers in different departments like PHE, Forest, PWD, PDD, etc during the last two decades for the smooth functioning of these departments, but they were never paid regular wages,” Pradeep Sharma, President Jal shakti Division Akhnoor said, that the families of these workers are facing immense hardships because of irregular wages.
He lamented that the successive Governments have ignored the genuine demands of these employees and made their lives miserable. “We were expecting that the present dispensation of UT will appreciate the plight of daily wagers, but the issue of regularization remains unsettled. In order to fight for the legitimate rights of employees particularly the issue of regularization of daily wagers and bring them under minimum wages act it was felt that joint efforts of the trade union of J&K are unavoidable,” he said.
The front has threatened to intensify the protest if the government fails to fulfill their demands. Other employees who were present in the protest were Sat Paul, Raj Kumar, Dyal Singh, Bal Krishan, Denish Sharma, Bupinder Singh, Subash Chander, Rakesh Kumar, Balwant Singh, Arjun Choudhary, Pawan Kumar and Man Mohan Singh.
