PIB Jammu, FOB Anantnag organise webinar on ‘Role of women during freedom movement’

Anantnag: To showcase the journey of new India and celebrate the contribution of freedom fighters, including the unsung heroes of the freedom struggle through online outreach activities, Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Anantnag in coordination with PIB Jammu, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India on Thursday organised a webinar on ‘Role of women during the freedom movement of India’ as a part of the iconic week celebrations under ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mohatsav’.
Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, Regional Outreach Bureau, J&K, Ladakh & Deputy Director, PIB, Jammu in her welcome address said that the main aim of conducting this webinar is to make people aware of the contribution of women during the freedom movement.
She further said that women played a pivotal role during India’s independence be that in the revolt of 1857, Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement & Quit India Movement.
Khurshid Ahmad Mir, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Government Degree College Hyderpora said that women shouldered critical responsibilities during India’s struggle for freedom, bravely faced the imperialist powers and dedicated their life towards mother India.
Dr. Anju Rani, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Government Degree College, Hiranagar Kathua in her address said that the history of ‘Indian Freedom Struggle’ would be incomplete without mentioning the contributions of women.
The sacrifices made by the women of India will occupy the foremost place in the history of freedom movement, she added.
She also highlighted the contribution of Bina Dass, Pretilatta Waddedar as a revolutionary during the national movement.
Besides students & teachers from various institutions of J&K, Sheikh Mudasir Amin, Media and Communications Officer, PIB, Jammu, Khursheed Yousuf, FPO, Udhampur, Adil Shameem Andrabi, FEO, Jammu, Gurnaam Singh, in charge FOB, Rajouri, Rajesh Sharma, in charge FOB, Doda were also present in the webinar.
The webinar was moderated by Shahid Mohamad Lone, FPO Anantnag.
