Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening unveiled the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose near India Gate and paid floral tributes to him. Modi will also inaugurate the revamped Rajpath, which has been renamed as Kartavya Path. The government said change in name “symbolises a shift from erstwhile Rajpath being an icon of power to Kartavya Path being an example of public ownership and empowerment” and to “remove any trace of colonial mindset”.
