POONCH, Oct 19: Fifth Kyrougi and 2nd Poomsae Taekwondo Championships, organised by District Taekwondo Association under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association and J&K Sports Council, concluded at Sports Stadium’s Indoor Complex, here today.
Prabjot Singh was declared as best player in sub junior boys category, while Mohd Shoieb as best player in cadet boys and Zenab Kazmi as best player in sub junior girls, besides Sana Kazmi was announced as best player in cadet and Akarshit Sudan as best player in junior boys category.
A total of 300 players in both boys and girls took part in the championship. The chief guest of the opening closing ceremony was Wajhat Hussain Kazmi, Sub Judge Secretary DLSA, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police, District Jail, Rajni Sehgal, Principal GDC, Prof Jasbir Singh, Shamin Bhatti CMO, Narinder Singh ZPEO, Ranjeet Singh Rao SHO Poonch and Anju Rishi Principal GHSS Mandi were the guests of honours.
Saleem Bandey, general secretary District TT Association, President TT Association Ajit Singh, PP Luthra, senior vice president PDTA and other dignitaries were the special guests of the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said these kinds of events channelled the energy of youth in a positive manner, while Rajni Seghal also gave her best wishes to all the players, especially the coach Rajinder Singh.
During the event, Taekwondo self defence demonstrations were also conducted on the occasion by the players. The event was held under the technical supervision of Rajinder Singh (Referee) and his team members: Ashaq Hussain, Rupneet Kour, Sandeep Kumar, Sameer Khan, Mohd Waqar and Karan Bhargav.
Prominent persons including Incharge Manager Sports Stadium Mohd Bashir, Saurab Sharma (PEM) , Rajinder Singh (PEM) Neeraj Sharma (PET) and Matinderpal Singh (PET) were present during the event.
