BS6 fuels are much cleaner as they contain five times lower sulphur content. Based on the difference in BS norms, a BS6 vehicle has a permissible threshold of emitting not more than 60mg/km of nitrogen oxide, in a BS4 vehicle, that same value is higher at 80mg/km, therefore it contributes more pollution.
