Himachal results live: BJP, Cong neck and neck in early trends

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election Results Live Updates: The counting for Himachal Pradesh assembly elections is under way in 68 counting halls spread across 59 locations. The counting will start with the postal ballot at 8am followed by EVM counting at 8:30am. A three-tier security system has been set up for the strong rooms, the innermost parameter of which will be guarded by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and second and third by the armed Police and district executive force. No candidate or any other person will be allowed within 100 metres of counting centres except those with a valid identity card/pass issued by the Election Commission of India. According to a poll of at least eight exit polls, the BJP will win 35 seats in the 68-member assembly while Congress will bag 30. The majority mark is 35. Most exit polls predicted that AAP won’t make much impact in the state, and is likely to win between 0-3 seats. Times Now-ETG predicted 34-42 seats for BJP and 24-32 for Congress. Most other exit polls stuck to a similar range for both the parties. However, India Today-Axis My India gave Congress an edge, predicting 30-40 seats for the party while 24-34 for BJP. Himachal Pradesh, with its tradition of alternating between Congress and BJP, will keep everyone glued to the election outcomes during the day. Stay with TOI for all live updates.
