Azad terms Thathri situation alarming; seeks relocation of suffering families

JAMMU: Expressing concern over alarming situation in Thathri Doda in the wake of houses developing cracks, rendering thousands of people homes, Democratic Azad Party Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the matter personally, relocate families to safer places and provide them adequate compensation.
Azad said that the public infrastructure also needs to be restored immediately since the people are facing huge crisis ever since these got damaged due to sinking of land, putting the normal life to grinding halt.
“Not only the houses have developed cracks rendering hundreds of people homeless, the total infrastructure of the region has witnessed massive damage, which needs to be repaired on priority basis”, Azad said.
Azad interacted with the locals in Thathri, who projected various issues like damaged roads and public infrastructure besides houses with massive cracks resulting in the sufferings of people with anxiety and stress.
“People are facing huge crisis. If the issue is not addressed, it will trigger a massive humanitarian crisis in the region,” he said.
