* J&K Boys thrash Assam 4-3 in opening tie *

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir made a winning start when the host men defeated Assam 4-3 in a low scoring closely contested game on the opening day of the 19th Senior National Rollball Championship at Skating Rink, MA Stadium, here on Monday.
The event was declared open by the Chief Guest, Rajinder Sharma, Mayor Jammu amidst introduction with the participating teams and officials.
This four-day Championship is being organized by organized by Rollball Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports Council (JKSC) under the auspicious of Rollball Federation of India.
Near about 750 players both men and women and officials from all over the country are taking part in this four-day long National Championship.
An impressive march-past by all the participating teams from different parts of the country took place.
Speaking to the gathering, chief guest lauded the efforts of J&K Rollball Association for conducting such a mega sports event in the City of Temples. The Mayor also encouraged participants and said that every youth should take active part in games and sports for overall personality development as sports develops teamwork and leadership quality among the individual. He claimed that nation had attained greater heights in sports under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
President of the Rollball Association of J&K, Gautam Daluja presented vote of thanks.
Presidents/Secretaries of different J&K UT Sports Associations and prominent citizens of J&K UT were also present in the opening ceremony.
The Results: BOYS: J&K beat Assam 4-3; Maharashtra beat Uttar Pradesh 6-3; RSSA beat Pondicherry 22-10; Gujarat beat Madhya Pradesh 7-2.
GIRLS: Uttar Pradesh beat Pondicherry 13-04; Chhattisgarh beat Madhya Pradesh 5-1.
