GHAZIABAD: Vivek Suri and Amit Kumar represented J&K in All India Double Wicket Cricket Championship which was inaugurated on Monday at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium Ghaziabad.
The tournament is being organised by Board for Veterans Cricket in India under the presidentship of Nitin Gadkari Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, GoI.
Praveen Tyagi, Working President of BVCI, along with other National executive members were present at the inaugural function of the “Umesh Cup” All India Double Wicket cricket championship.
Vivek Suri General Secretary and Amit Kumar Vice President J&K Veterans Cricket Association are participating in this prestigious championship which will be played from February 27 to March 5 at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium Ghaziabad.
In this all India championship 96 teams representing UP, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Vidharbh, Goa, Gujarat, Mumbai, Chennai, J&K, Hyderabad, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra comprising of current & former Ranji players of over 40 years are participating.
The Board for Veterans Cricket in India (BVCI) started in the year 1998 by former India Opener Chetan Chauhan is an organised structure which has 25 states affiliated with them. Board for Veterans Cricket in India is working with an objective to bring all the active and passionate cricket lovers over the age of 40 plus under a single platform and to play active and competitive cricket. And Double Wicket Championship is one of such initiative from where the teams will be selected for Veterans Premier League (VPL ) which will be organised this year.
