The assassins of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf would have attacked the duo on April 14 but for the security around them when they were being escorted to a Prayagraj court for a remand hearing, investigators quoted main suspect Mohit Singh, alias Shani, as saying.
