Bhadarwah: After reports of massive green felling by using banned portable chain-saw (mechanical cutters) and large scale smuggling in Neeru Range range of Bhadarwah Forest Division, sleuths of FPF (Forest Protection Force) seized 3 cutters and arrested a smuggler in late night operation at Halian Nallah in Puneja Block of Neeru Range in Bhadarwah Forest Division on Thursday.
In the late night operation, 5 smugglers were found resorting to massive green felling and smuggling of timber extracted from green cedar trees in 49 compartment of Puneja block, allegedly in connivance with officials of territorial forest department. In the operation, which was carried out by FPF, a smuggler was arrested while 4 others managed to escape taking advantage of darkness and dense forest. In the operation, a ReJ (Rehber-e-Janglat) of FPF was seriously injured, who was shifted to sub-district hospital Bhadarwah.
