Two arrested with 140 bottles of illicit liquor

KATHUA: To prevent the trade and production of illicit liquor in the district, a team from Police Post Nagri led by Insp Rajesh Kumar under supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua Shammi Kumar during patrolling/Naka checking duty near Nagri, apprehended a person namely Ajay Singh, son of Dayal Singh, resident of Tarhara Tehsil & District Kathua. During checking, 42 bottles illicit liquor (375 ml each) were recovered, which he had kept for selling to people at village Nagri. Meanwhile in another instance, police team during Naka checking duty near Radha Swami Bhawan Nagri, apprehended another suspect namely Tarseem Lal, son of Girdhari Lal, resident of Ward No. 07, Kathua. On checking police team recovered 98 bottles of illicit liquor (180 ml each) from his possession thus by making a total of 140 bottles of illicit liquor. A scooty (JK08F-5499) was also seized by police. The duo was arrested and FIR Nos 327/2021 & 330/2021 under section 48 of Excise Act was registered at Police Station Kathua.
