Kavinder tours flood-hit localities, takes up issue of inundation with Div Com

JAMMU: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, on Thursday held a whirlwind tour of flood affected areas of the Jammu city and later deliberated the issue of inundation with Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar.
Addressing the media persons during his visit to flood hit areas including Satwari Bazar, Jammu Cantonment, Nanak Nagar, Belicharana, Doda Basti, etc, the senior BJP leader said that beyond any doubt the JMC has taken groundbreaking initiatives in making Jammu a Smart City in real terms but still the issue of inundation of rainwater is a challenge and the same should be taken up on war footing to provide a sigh of relief to the common man as the rainy season conventionally wreaks havoc in low lying areas in Jammu.
He asked the JMC to come up with a comprehensive plan to counter this challenge successfully. Taking the specific issue of Satwari area, Kavinder said that the net placed in the Nallah near Air Force Station is blocking the flow of water leading to inundation.
He took up the matter with the Divisional Commissioner as well as the JMC and anticipated that soon a via media will come out and the issue will be resolved.
Vinay Gupta District President, Bharat Bhushan Vice Chairman Cantonment, Raj Kumar Chairman Health and Sanitation JMC, Joint Commissioner Health and Sanitation JMC, Kulbhushan Khajuria, Dr Vinod Sharma Health Officer, Naveen Gupta and Hardev Singh accompanied the former deputy Chief Minister during the visit to flood affected areas. Besides, Rajesh Gupta, Sardari Lal, Ramesh Kumar, Rakesh Sharma, Gulshan Kumar, Parveen Kumar and Ashok Kumar were also present.
