9 arrested, vehicles seized for illegal mining

SRINAGAR, Mar 31: Cracking down on illegal mining of minerals in Shrai area of Tangmarg and Kunzer in Baramulla, police today seized nine vehicles and arrested their drivers.
Authorities stated that a police party, under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg, assisted by SHO Tangmarg and SHO Kunzer, seized nine vehicles-six tippers and three tractors-and arrested their drivers.
The drivers have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Malik, son of Ab Hameed; Abdul Hameed Kumar, son of Ghulam Mohammad; all residents of Pariswani; Firdous Ahmad Magray, son of Gh Rasool, resident of Chandil Wanigam; Nisar Ahmad Rather, son of Shabir Ahmad; and Shabir Ahmad Rather, son of Mohd Akbar, both residents of Ganibaba Kunzer; Abdul Hamid Mir, son of Mohammad Shaban, resident of Mangloora; Fayaz Ahmad Reshi, son of Abdul Rahim, resident of Paraswani; and Ali Mohammad Lone, son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Karhama.
Police stated that they were found involved in the illegal extraction/transportation of minerals, and accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered against them.
