Gaza, June 7 : Hamas armed wing Al-Qassam Brigades said Thursday that it blew up a tunnel entrance set by Israeli forces near Rafah as a trap and killed five Israeli soldiers ambushed inside.
The entrance to an underground tunnel had been installed near the Tal Zu’rob neighborhood, west of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, Al-Qassam said in a press statement, without providing further details about the operation.
There was no comment from the Israeli side yet.
In another statement on Telegram, the Al-Qassam Brigades claimed to have attacked the headquarters of the Israeli army division operating in the city of Rafah without detailing either.
Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli army announced the killing of three Palestinians who attempted to cross the fence of the Gaza-Israel border east of Rafah. (Agencies)
