Ghagwal police seizes 50 sacks of polythene

SAMBA, June 6: Police has recovered 50 sacks of banned polythene bags in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal, district Samba which were being illegally transported in a passenger bus.
Police said a team of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SHO PS Ghagwal, while performing routine vehicle checking duty at NHW Naka Tapyal, intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration Number UP81CT-3537 driven by Kulwinder Singh son of Munsha Singh of Fatehgarh Churian district Gurdaspur (Punjab) which was on way from Jalandhar to Katra.
During checking of the vehicle, 50 sacks of polythene bags, each weighing about 24 Kgs (1200kgs approximately in total), were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission and were concealed tactfully beneath sacks of other goods, police said.
In this regard, the matter was taken up with District Pollution Control Board, Samba for further legal proceedings at their end.
