In 2025 Live life, Not just spend it.

Jagmohann Sharma
Welcoming a new year is a time that sparks a sense of joy in our mind and heart. It is an auspicious and wonderful time for people around the world. It is an event celebrated by everyone around the world irrespective of their culture or faith. It brings everyone together to celebrate in hope of new achievements, new beginnings and setting new targets. It is the time to make New Year resolutions; give a thought to things we want to change for better and promise ourselves new heights to accomplish in the year ahead.
Let’s have a reality check and just ponder upon how many of our resolutions are actually accomplished or even initiated at all. Probably not many..! But this year, taking a cue from all that I have learned and realized from life, I resolve and suggest all of you to follow these basic principles to get set and go ahead to have a satisfactory and an accomplished life.
Practice Gratitude
You must have heard that expectations are the real cause of all worries and that is true to a pretty great extent. Most of the people set highest possible goals, many of them impossible to achieve and eventually end up spending all their life in a futile chase to nowhere. They forget enjoying the present in search of future. It is said that we cannot change the past but we can ruin a perfectly good present by worrying about the future. We worry about the things desirable to have in our life and upon being unable to have those feel disappointed, low and worried. Owing to this we forget relishing and cherishing all that we have got. However if we start being grateful to the Almighty for all we have and feel blessed with what we have got; believe me, we would definitely be a lot happier. Being grateful helps deal with stress and being our best. By following this principle you will definitely start loving your life instead of cursing it for all you haven’t got. Just start saying “Thank you Almighty” and see the results of “Shukrana”.
Appreciate others
You must have observed some people around who avoid greeting you in the first place. Such people, I feel, are a living curse, shelled in a cover of anger, jealousy, and ill will encapsulated in a false elated ego. Such people are never pleasant for their family, friends, colleagues and their own life too. Extending warm greetings first demonstrates good etiquette that creates a positive impression, makes the other person feel valued and spreads positivity all over. A step ahead, appreciating others, also generally creates a pleasant environment for everyone involved. Appreciating others fosters positive relationships, boosts morale and motivates people to do better and the satisfaction you get in return is beyond limits. I have recently started appreciating the Dogri lovers with TUNDE PAR MAAN HAI awards. Believe it or not, it has made me feel proud that I am actively able to applause the good work of others including known, little known or even unknown people. With this I am experiencing an immense pleasure, and satisfaction to the level that big money bags cannot buy. This is my resolve to continue with this approach lifelong.
Pursue your passion
We come across many people around us always cursing their life for things they wanted to do but couldn’t. This approach makes life miserable. Though I never blamed life for the things I could not pursue but many a time I did repent for not doing my favourite things just due to a hesitation of the end result — would be able to do it or not. However over the time my approach has now changed for the better. My hobbies and passions are not for a race or a competition nor are these to be compared with others. They are for my satisfaction and internal fulfilment. I have taken a leap and started penning down my feelings and ideas in the form of verses with a new pen name i.e. Yoonhee. So now onwards I am Jagmohann Sharma “Yoonhee”. I’ll be coming up with an anthology of my Dogri Free-verse soon, hopefully, very soon. Apart from this I am not going to stay back from trying my hand on canvas with vivid colours of life and also capturing the sights and scenes in camera with a confidence that these things are going to help me satisfy my urge without any comparison or competition with others who perhaps are doing far better than me. Dear readers, if you really want to live a repentless life, please, don’t suppress your instincts, your hobbies, your desires. To live a contended life, do not hold back from engaging in activities you genuinely enjoy, even if you feel otherwise or don’t have time. Do actively pursue your passions and interests as they can significantly improve your well-being and overall quality of life. Essentially, create time for the things that bring you joy and fulfilment. Just try these three tricks and see the change.
Wishing you all a happy, contended, and a dreams-come- true New Year 2025!!!
