KATHUA/NAGROTA/UDHAMPUR: Police on Thursday foiled several bovine smuggling attempts by rescuing 31 bovines and arrested two smugglers.
As per details, a police team led by Inspector Sumeet Sharma SHO Police Station Lakhanpur under supervision DySP DAR Kathua Sukhdev Singh noticed a truck (HR58A/4027) and signaled it to stop. On seeing Naka, the driver fled away after parking truck few distance away from Naka point. During checking of vehicle, 16 bovines were found laden in it which were rescued and truck was seized. FIR No. 83/2021 under sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered at Police Station Lakhanpur.
Meanwhile, Jammu Police rescued 7 bovine animals at two different locations i.e., TCP Nagrota Naka and Ban Toll Plaza Naka. Two different vehicles (JK02BH-6362 and JK02BK-5329) were also seized and FIR Nos. 298 & 299/2021 under section 188/IPC were registered in Police Station Nagrota. Two accused, identified as Shakeel Mohd, son of Malook Hussain, resident of Kadyal, R S Pura and Raj Kumar, son of Om Parkash, resident of Bhojpur R S Pura, were also arrested. The arrest and recoveries were made by SHO Nagrota Insp Mohd Showkat under supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh.
In another incident, a party of Police Post Roundomail led by Insp Chaman Gorka SHO Police Station Udhampur and assisted by SI Kaku Ram Incharge PP Roundomail under supervision of Anwaar-ul-Haq Addl. SP Udhampur and Sahil Mahajan DySP Hqrs Udhampur laid a surprise Naka at Johnu area for checking of vehicles. During Naka checking, police party intercepted a vehicle (JK14G 5647) which was being used by smugglers for illegal transportation of bovine animals. All 8 bovine animals, loaded in the vehicle, were rescued. FIR under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
