REASI: In a major strike on drug peddling and liquor smuggling, various surprise Naka were laid & raids were conducted by Reasi Police, leading to arrest of seven offenders along with recovery of narcotics and liquor.
As per details, during surprise Naka checking in Sihar Baba area, a team from Police post Talwara intercepted and arrested four drug peddlers, namely Ghulam Ali, son of Abdul Kareem, resident of Talwara; Talib Hussain, son of Noor Alam, resident of Sirla Bhaga; Mohd Farooq, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Tulli Banna and Mohd Usman, son of Mohd Iqbal, resident of Tulli Banna and recovered heroine like substance from their possession. FIR No. 142/2021 under sections 8,21,22 of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Reasi and investigation started.
In another incident, a team from Police Station Reasi immediately raided & searched house of notorious drug peddler Ghulam Ali in Talwara. Accused Talib Hussain is a habitual offender and involved in 3 case FIRs viz No 33/2019 under sections 435/ 427 of RPC, 4/25 of Arms Act, FIR No 41/2020 under section 8/22 of NDPS Act and FIR No 60/2021 under sections 8/21/22 of NDPS Act registered at Police Station Reasi. To curb his activities, his name was entered in Register Number 10 of Police Station Reasi & constant surveillance will be kept over him besides recording his history sheet.
In another incident, a team of Police Station Arnas, on a specific information, arrested a bootlegger, identified as Suraj Ram, son of Anant Ram, resident of Dugga from Zero Morh Arnas and recovered 14 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession, which were being carried by him for selling illegally in Arnas area. FIR No 64/21 under section 48 A, 50 of Excise Act was registered at Police Station Arnas. Accused Suraj Ram is a habitual offender and a history-sheeter of Police Station Arnas.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Pouni laid a Naka at Domail and intercepted a vehicle (JK11E-2350). Sanjay Singh, son of Rajinder Singh, resident of Khwas and Jeet Singh, son of Kashmir Singh, resident of Keri, tehsil Khawas district Rajouri were illegally transporting 32 bottles of illicit liquor. FIR No 45/2021 under section 48-A of Excise Act was registered at Police Station Pouni and both accused was arrested.
Under the drive, teams from Police Station Reasi led by SSP Shailender Singh registered 90 FIRs against 112 offenders during last 10 weeks.
