STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) in collaboration with Department of Horticulture, Poonch on Thursday organised a Kissan Ghoshti-cum- Farmers Meet at KVK campus to celebrate Horticulture week. Ch. Ghani, DDC Member Poonch was the Chief Guest on the occasion. At the onset Hameed Kohli, Horticulture Development Officer welcomed the farmers and explained the importance of organizing such programme. He stressed upon the adoption of scientific cultivation practices of important fruit crops and also discussed in details about various schemes being implemented by the department of Horticulture. Dr Ajay Gupta Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Poonch highlighted the scope and importance of Horticulture in the district. Progressive farmers Kuldeep Sigh and Mohd. Sadiq also shared their experiences during the seminar -cum-ghoshti. Dr Muzaffar Mir also interacted with farmers through online mode and discussed the importance of integrated nutrient management, pollinators and quality planting material for getting higher income. Dr. Mushtaq Guroo presented a detailed lecture on important insect pests and their management in fruit and vegetable crops. Abdul Ghani, DDC member stressed the need for close coordination between Agriculture, Horticulture and other line departments. He also stressed upon farmers to take maximum advantage from Govt. schemes. The programme ended with vote of thanks presented by Sr. Scientist & Head.
