Srinagar: Security forces busted a terror module of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit by arresting three terrorist associates in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Thursday.
Surrendered terrorist evading arrest in murder case held
REASI: Continuing its drive against underground criminals, absconding in cases of heinous crime, team of Reasi Police arrested a surrendered terrorists, a hardcore murder accused Mumtaz Ali alias Tahir, son of Ali Mohd, resident of Thuroo-Arnas.
On October 15, 2000 a case FIR no 127/2000 under section 302, 307, 120-B, 121-A, RPC, 7, 27 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Mahore, it was proved and challan was produced in the court of law on 28-11-2001 against accused Mumtaz Ali @Tahir. To avoid conviction accused remained underground & couldn’t be apprehended since registration of Case FIR against him. A General Warrant of Arrest U/S 512 CrPC was issued by Hon’ble court of JMIC Mahore on 06-12-2001 against him.
Mumtaz joined terrorists organizations Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in may 1999, remained as active terrorist for 9 years in Mahore-Chassana area, his name was considered as terror in the area as he remained involved in killings of innocent civilians in the area.
20 cases of murder were registered against the accused during that period in Police Station Mahore. He remained involved in FIR numbers 48/2004, 150/2001, 73/2001, 110/2004, 117/2004, 148/1999, 30/2005, 86/2005, 96/2005, 9/2006, 24/2006, 25/2006, 46/2006, 67/2006, 88/2005, 36/2006, 40/2006, 57/2006, 64/2006 all under sections, 307, 302, 120-B, 121, 147, 148, 336, 332, 186, 201, 212, 216, 34 RPC, 7, 27, 26, 27 Arms Act of Police station Mahore.
In March 2008 Mumtaz surrendered before security forces alongwith Arms and ammunition i.e AK47 Rifle, 05 AK47 magzines & 02 HE 36 garnedes.
Team of Police Station Reasi traced and produced him in the court and executed the Warrant against him after 20 years.
Reasi police under the command of Shailender Singh Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi has launched a special drive under the banner “F’RARI KI GRIFTARI”; arresting the absconders and remained successful in nabbing hardcore notorious habitual criminals who were evading their arrests since years and against whom General Warrants of Arrest are issued by Courts were pending. 43 absconding criminals who were evading arrests since years are arrested and produced in the concerned courts of law in last 12weeks.
A terror module of proscribed terror outfit LeT was busted by arresting three terrorist associates and recovering incriminating material including arms and ammunition from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He identified the arrested as Suhaib Ahmad Malik alias Asif and Aejaz Ahmad Najar — both residents of Gundpora, and Touseef Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Chittaybanday, Bandipora.
Incriminating material, arms and ammunition, including a pistol, fake SIM cards, forged documents etc were recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that they were involved in providing logistics and other support like providing fake SIM cards to the active terrorists of the LeT, he said.
The trio was also in contact with active LeT terrorists across the border including operational commander Babar who had tasked them to monitor the movement of police, security forces and political functionaries in the area, the spokesman said.
He said Babar had also promised the trio for the supply of three AK rifles in the coming days so that they could formally join the terrorist ranks.
The three were further tasked to carry out weapon snatching till the consignment of weapons could be smuggled in and delivered, he added.
A case has been registered and investigation into the matter initiated, the spokesman said.
