SAMBA: Police on Thursday nabbed two bootleggers and recovered 135 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.
As per details, acting on a reliable information regarding transportation of illicit liquor towards Ghagwal via Rajpura-Ghagwal Border road, a team from Police Station Ghagwal led by SHO Rakesh Sharma laid a Naka at Main Chowk Ghagwal and intercepted a car (JK08F-7421) coming from Rajpura side. During checking, a total of 100 bottles (180 ml each) of illicit liquor were recovered. The accused, identified as Rakesh Singh, son of Rattan Singh, resident of Gurha Jatta, was arrested and FIR No. 141/2021 under section 48 (A) of Excise Act was registered against him at Police Station Ghagwal.
Meanwhile, a patrolling party from Police Station Chanderkote led by PSI Ankush Bhau stopped a SRTC Bus (JK02Y-0394) on way from Ramban towards Rajgarh, driven by one Sher Singh for routine checking at JP Morh. During checking, 5 bottles (750 ml each), 20 bottles (350 ml each) and 10 bottles (180 ml each) were recovered from possession of a passenger namely Chuni Lal, son of Amar Singh, resident of Kainthi Damote, Ramban, at present Rajgarh, Ramban. The accuses was arrested and FIR No 81/2021 under section 48 (A) (F) excise Act was registered at Police Station Chanderkote. The arrest and recovery was made by PSI Ankush Bhau under supervision of Insp. Vijay Singh Choudhary SHO Chanderkote.
