JAMMU: Police on Monday presented Challan in the Court against Abid Ghani, son of former minister Abdul Ghani Vakil and one of his friends, for kidnapping and raping a minor girl. The case was registered against the son of former minister on 26 April, 2015 at Domana Police Station, Jammu.
In the Challan filed in the court, Police said that on day of the incident, the victim, a class-VII student, residing in Karloop area of Domana, had gone to Paloura area along with her school-teacher and some students to participate in a sports event. After the programme, when victim was on the way to her home in a minibus, accused Abid Ghani reached there in a car along with a friend.
Abid told victim that he is her father’s friend and would drop her in the car. The victim came in words of accused and sat in car with him. Thereafter, the accused took her to government quarters located at Talab Tillo, where she was raped. The accused later dropped victim in his car near her house. Since accused in the case was son of a former minister, no police officer had laid hands on him for six years. Last month, Jammu Police team raided house of accused Abin Ghani in Sopore, Kashmir and arrested him.
Abid Ghani lives with his father Abdul Ghani Vakil at their house. Former minister Abdul Gani Vakil was a Minister in Jammu & Kashmir from quota of Congress party. Leaving Congress, these days he has joined Kashmir’s political party People’s Conference. It may be recalled that a case of sexual abuse is also registered against son of former minister in Bengaluru. According to Jammu Police, Abid Ghani, son of a former minister, accused of raping a minor, has also been booked for sexually assaulting a girl in Bengaluru. Apart from this, many complaints of molestation of girls in Bangalore have also been registered against him.
