JAMMU: For the cause of Jammu region, social activist Pawan Chib appealed several political parties, social organizations, educational institutions and people in general throughout the Jammu region to come under one roof with the aim to provide a platform for declaring a holiday on 23rd September, birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh.
For that purpose a programme was organised by Pawan Chib at Bantalab on Sunday in which people from all corners of Jammu region participated.
The programme started with the discussion on contribution of Maharaja Hari Singh in socio-political and religious reforms in the erstwhile J&K state during his rule.
While addressing the public, Speakers stated that the long standing demand of the people of Jammu region to declare a holiday on 23rd September should be fulfilled.
Various activists including Brinder Pratap Singh while praising the Maharaja Hari Singh stated that he is the symbol of Dogras, and declaring a holiday on his birth anniversary would mean honouring and respecting the sentiments of the people of Jammu region. Brinder Pratap asked the administration why they fear to honour and recognize the man who is known to have said “Justice is my religion, and All religions are mine.”
So it is therefore requested that the Justice can only be done by declaring 23rd September as public holiday, he said.
Pawan Chib stated that all political parties have spoken in favour of Maharaja Hari Singh contributions to the state but yet the demand for holiday as promised has not been fulfilled till date.
For this a resolution has also been passed in the Legislative Council and the matter has also been taken up in Rajya Sabha, he added.
While concluding, Chib said that they are inspired by the life of Maharaja and want to work for the development of J&K.
