21 bovines rescued, vehicle seized

KATHUA: In its endeavours and commitment to contain activities of bovine smuggling within district, Kathua Police under overall supervision of SSP Kathua R C Kotwal on Saturday foiled bovine smuggling attempt near NH Saktey Chak, rescued 21 bovines and seized vehicle involved in crime.
As per details, a team from Police Station Kathua led by Insp Om Parkash Chib SHO Kathua under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua Shammi Kumar during routine Naka checking duty at NH Saktey Chak noticed a suspicious vehicle (UP11BT-1547) enroute Jammu and signaled it to stop for checking. Sensing danger, driver of aforesaid vehicle parked it far behind the Naka point and managed to flee. During checking of vehicle, about two dozen bovines were found loaded in it illegally, which were rescued. The vehicle was also seized and FIR No. 367/2021 under section 188 of IPC was registered at Police Station Kathua.
