RAJOURI: A 2-year-old innocent child lost his life when a group of armed men attacked BJP leader Jasbir Singh’s house at Rajouri on late Thursday night. Six other members of the family have also received severe injuries.
The family members of Jasbir Singh, Mandal Pradhan, were sitting together when the explosion took place, police said, adding that all the injured have been shifted to Rajouri hospital for treatment.
They said the explosion is suspected to have taken place due to grenade lobbying. Meanwhile, the police and security forces have cordoned the entire area. Jasbir Singh, a BJP leader, had also contested municipal polls from ward number 16.
The deceased child who happens to be nephew of BJP leader, has been identified as Veer Singh (2), son of Balbir Singh while the injured have been identified as Jasbir Singh (BJP leader), son of Ramish Singh; Arjan Singh, son of Kulbir Singh; Sia Devi, wife of Ramish Singh; Ramish Chander, son of Lal Chand; Balbir Singh, son of Ramish Singh and Karan Singh, son of Balbir Singh. Locals assembled at the hospital and started raising slogans against the district administration. They also raised slogans against DC Rajouri for non availability of doctors at the hospital.
Meanwhile, Sanatan Dharam Sabha Rajouri has called for complete shutdown tomorrow i.e on 13 August, 2021.
“Strongly condemn the coward grenade attack by terrorists on our Mandal President Rajouri Jasbir Singh at his residence in Khandli. In the unfortunate attack, six to seven family members are seriously injured and one member has lost his life,” BJP leader Vibodh Gupta twitted.
“We stand by the family and our Mandal Pardhan Jasbir Singh. Entire Rajouri district will remain close tomorrow to express solidarity with the family & as a symbol of protest against the coward terrorist attack,” Vibodh Gupta said in another tweet.
Congress has condemned the suspected grenade attack on house of a BJP worker in Rajouri on Thursday late evening and expressed solidarity with the injured and prayed for their early recovery.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has expressed concern over the incident and demanded an in-depth investigation to trace the culprits to be punished for the attack. The security forces and police would not leave any stone unturned to trace the culprits.
