BHADARWAH: With an aim to divert the energy of youth in a positive way and to revive the traditional village games, Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) based at Bhadarwah organised a wrestling competition at Sewa village in Chirala tehsil of Doda district on Saturday. The wrestling competition organised by Army in a far off village Sewa in which 44 local and wrestlers from other parts of the UT beside those from neighbouring states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh participated was witnessed by hundreds of enthusiastic villagers.
Commanding officer 4RR was the Chief Guest of the event, while SDM Thathri Athar Amin Zargar was the Guest of Honour. Zargar, while appreciating the efforts of army to promote sports among youth residing far off villages, said that the initiative is bringing a positive change among the rural youth and this will definitely help them in developing their personality in constructive way. Locals also expressed their gratitude to the army for providing local youth a platform to display their skills beside giving them exposure to learn the nuances of traditional game from the renowned wrestlers.
